This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Today's Coimbatore (TodaysCoimbatore.com) ("we") collects through TodaysCoimbatore.com, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. By using the Website or submitting a form you consent to the practices described here.

2. What we collect, and when
We collect only what each form or feature needs:
- Contact and press forms: your name, email, optional phone number and your message.
- Directory “Unlock Number” enquiry: your name, mobile number, optional email and optional note, and the business you enquired about. We also record your IP address and browser details (user agent) with it, to prevent misuse.
- Free Listing request: business name, owner name, service category, area, address, optional map location, mobile or landline number, optional email and optional website.
- Blood-donor registration: name, mobile number, blood group and area. Blood group is health-related information, so we ask for it only with your explicit consent given by submitting the form.
- Blood request: patient name, hospital or location, required blood group and units, urgency, contact number and optional notes.
- Reviews and feedback: your name, optional email or mobile number, rating and comment.
- Anti-spam: a one-time captcha record, and a short-lived record of the captcha used.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and hosting providers receive technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device, pages requested and time. We use it to run, secure and fix the Website. We do not run advertising or behavioural-analytics trackers on the Website.
4. Cookies and browser storage
- Browser storage on your device keeps the mobile number you used to unlock listings and which listings you unlocked (so you do not have to enter it again), your language and theme choice, and cached stories to load pages faster. You can clear it from your browser settings at any time.
- The language selector uses Google Translate, which may set its own cookies. Embedded maps and links to other sites are governed by those sites’ own policies.
- A secure sign-in cookie is set only for our own staff in the admin area. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies.
5. Why we use your data
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
- To respond to your enquiry, press note, tip or request, and to pass your enquiry to the business you chose.
- To review, publish, update and display business listings and events, and to run the blood-donor network.
- To keep the Website secure, prevent spam and misuse, and meet legal obligations.
- To improve the Website and fix errors.
6. Consent
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting a form after reading this notice, and for certain legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us (section 12); withdrawal does not affect what was done before it, and we may not be able to continue a service that depends on that data.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. Enquiries are kept while they are being handled and for a reasonable period afterwards; business listings stay until the owner asks us to remove them or we remove them under our Terms; blood-donor details stay until the donor asks to be removed. Old drafts and stale records are deleted periodically.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to the admin area, and access-controlled database storage. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please contact us promptly if you suspect misuse of your data.
10. Children
The Website is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal data without a parent’s or guardian’s verifiable consent. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Data processed outside India
Our hosting and database providers may process data on servers outside India. We use providers that apply appropriate safeguards and we do not knowingly transfer data to any country restricted by the Government of India.
12. Your rights and how to use them
Under the DPDP Act you may:
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- ask us to correct or complete inaccurate data;
- ask us to erase your data or remove your listing or donor entry;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or cannot do so; and
- complain to us, and, if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India once it is functioning.
